Thilina is a seasoned international education strategist with over 20 years of leadership experience spanning the UK, Australia, Canada, and the United States. As Chief Growth Officer at The Students Visa, he leads the organization’s mission to provide ethical, student-first guidance for global education pathways.
A former international student himself, Thilina studied in both Australia and South Korea, gaining firsthand insight into the opportunities and challenges students face abroad. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Yeungnam University (Korea) and a Bachelor of Government & Public Management from Flinders University (Australia), along with a diploma from TAFE South Australia.
Thilina has held senior regional leadership roles at some of the world’s top education platforms, including ApplyBoard and Leverage Edu, where he drove strategic growth across South and Southeast Asia. His earlier contributions to the higher education sector include ExCo roles at SLIIT and Horizon Campus.
In the policy sphere, he has served as an expert committee member at Sri Lanka’s National Education Commission, contributing to the national Quality Assurance Framework for private and international schools. He was also the founding Executive to the Board of Directors at the Sri Lanka Association of Non-State Higher Education Institutes (SLANSHEI).
